About North West Group
North West Geomatics Ltd. is part of Hexagon (Nordic exchange: HEXA B; www.hexagon.com), a leading global provider of design, measurement and visualisation technologies that enable customers to design, measure and position objects, and process and present data.
North West Geomatics Ltd., also known as North West Group (North West), is a company currently specializing in digital remote sensing, digital aerial photography, LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and related services in North America and the international market. Since 1968 innumerable projects, from complex to extremely technical, have been completed around the world.
North West operates out of 245 Aero Way NE, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is a modern building comprised of both hangar and office space used for both administration and production. All aircraft maintenance, flight planning, LiDAR, and data processing are performed at this office. This central location, with a staff of 50 employees, permits maximum efficiency with minimum delays in the acquisition and processing of our products. North West also maintains offices in Colorado.
For years, North West has been a pioneer in developing various techniques to maximize efficiency and productivity, both in photo acquisition and the subsequent photogrammetric tasks. By dedicating a significant portion of our resources to continuing research and development, North West remains at the leading edge in the aerial photography industry. The company has earned a reputation for fast, efficient service in all phases of aerial photography including project planning, photo acquisition, processing and quality control. Industry standards for aerial survey and mapping are met or exceeded with the assistance of computerized quality control procedures. North West is ISO 9001 and OHSAS certified.
North West owns and operates six high performance aircraft specifically modified and equipped for aerial photography. The aircraft we operate provide the altitude, range and speed necessary for a wide variety of project specifications. North West owns four new state of the art Leica Geosystems ADS100 Airborne Digital Sensors used for digital imagery. Essentially, the ADS40 will perform everything currently possible with a film camera but in significantly less time.
North West also owns a Leica ALS50 airborne LiDAR system which can be installed in five of North West’s aircraft. The ALS50 will be dedicated to our proprietary Alberta LiDAR collection in 2007.
